The British Standards Institution (BSI), the world's leading international authority on professional services, published five key recommendations for businesses in September 2012 to ensure they are prepared to deal with any possible threat.
These recommendations are in line with ISO's latest International Standard for Business Continuity Management (BCM), ISO 22301, which was released on May 15, 2012. As its predecessor, the internationally recognized BCM British standard BS 25999 published by BSI will be formally replaced by ISO 22301 in September 2012. ISO 22301 management system can help enterprises to develop a framework of the integration of the management process planning, make the enterprise to potential disaster to distinguish analysis, help them to determine the possible impact of the threat of business operation, and provides an effective management mechanism to prevent or offset these threats, reducing the loss of disaster brings to the enterprise. Compared with BS 25559, ISO 22301 has a higher international recognition, it emphasizes the setting of goals, monitoring performance and indicators, puts forward clearer expectations for enterprise management, and puts forward higher requirements for the development of business continuity plans.
